Common GroundÕ' performance and workshops are based on languages that are visual and spatial Ð these are the language of Sign Theatre (sign language) and dance (movement). To integrate these two mediums we bring together the common ability we all experience through visual expression, whether we are deaf or hearing. This visual expression, a fusion of sign language, dance and theatre brings deaf and hearing persons to a common understanding of a human experience.

LSS holds weekly percussion practices. It is known nationally for its ÔCarnivalÕ club nights, festivals, corporate events, charities, community events and education projects. In the past 2 years members have represented Liverpool at the Rio carnival, Edinburgh festival, Dublin Carnival and Amsterdam International festival. Current projects include bringing carnival to Liverpool with Samba schools from Rio, and involving the children and adults in the schools projects for a carnival parade family day. Apart from all of of the good social projects that the samba school is involved with it is in fact the only samba school outside of Rio that has actually played in the Rio carnival as a group.

Every March Liverpool's civic halls play host to the annual Performing Arts Festival, (formerly the Liverpool Festival of Music Speech & Drama). Now with a dance section, there are over 200 competitions including choirs, orchestras, acting, drama and dance. All ages are catered for, and every competitor is given a certificate and a professional adjudication on their performance. A syllabus is available in September, closing date for entries is December. Spectators welcome.

Roger Parry and Phil Morton launched the Listening Room in June 1998 initially to promote improvised music via sample CD audio and video shows. Parklands CLC is a state-of-the-art learning centre with fabulous performance and ICT spaces. The auditorium holds 204 onraked seating, with the possibility of adding a further 100 seats.
